Wichita Garbage Disposal Dilemmas – Repair or Replace?
February 5, 2018
If your garbage disposal unit is leaking or is otherwise faulty, the big question is whether to have garbage disposal repair or whether it would be better to invest in a new one. As with many things in life, we have to tell you that “it all depends.”
If a garbage disposal is just leaking, but is otherwise working properly it can very likely be repaired, but then again, what you do about it should also take into account the age of the unit. If it is several years old, it may be best to bite the bullet and invest in a new unit rather than have garbage disposal repair. What you don’t want is a situation where you have it repaired, and then it goes wrong again a few months down the line.
After all, garbage disposal units are not a huge investment, and the cheaper ones are less than a hundred bucks, so it may be best to install a new one rather than keep having to call us out for garbage disposal repair. In addition, replacing the garbage disposal unit is not a very long job for professionals such as ourselves, and of course you will get a warranty with the new unit anyway.
Give Us A Call – We Can Service, Repair or Install a Garbage Disposal
However, if you are unsure what is the best course of action, the short answer is to give us a call. We’ll send out one of our highly skilled technicians who can take a look at your existing unit and give you his advice. If it is just a leak, and the unit is otherwise sound, he will usually be able to fix it on the spot. However, if he thinks it better to replace it he will tell you. The decision is then up to you, of course.
If you decide to invest in a new unit our technician will be able to supply and fit it for you. Alternatively, if you want to buy the unit yourself from somewhere like The Home Depot you can simply call us in to fit it for you when you have obtained it.
Like anything which has moving parts, a garbage disposal unit suffers from wear and tear so it will not last forever. In the majority of cases, unless it is a simple leak, it is best to replace the unit since it need not be expensive, and you will be able to look forward to several more years of trouble-free operation.
