The Most Common Preventable Plumbing Repair Situations
October 7, 2019
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to never have to call a professional to handle a plumbing repair? While we do not live in a eutopia and that is unlikely, there are several preventable plumbing repair concerns that you could avoid or at least experience far less frequently with some care on your part and regular maintenance visits.
- Clogged Drains- To prevent a plumbing repair call for a clogged drain, take care to keep anything but water from going down the drain. That may sound like an obvious answer, but you’d be surprised how many people forget to use a strainer in the kitchen or when giving the pooch a bath in the tub or shower. Utilizing a drain cleaning service on a regular basis is another way to avoid a completely clogged drain.
- Water Heaters- The best way to prevent needing a plumbing repair on your water heater is to have it regularly serviced to flush the tank to remove sediment that will cause plenty of problems down the road.
- Garbage Disposals- It is easy to forget that a garbage disposal is not a trash can, but if you’ll take care not to put the wrong things through it, you can avoid the need for a plumbing repair visit. It is also a good idea to keep a strainer over the opening when not in use to avoid something falling in accidentally and going unnoticed until you run it.
