Organic Shower Cleaning Tips
September 12, 2014
Just about everybody loves a hot, soothing shower, but hardly anyone likes to put in the work needed to keep that essential part of your bathroom clean. Unfortunately, it has to be done in order on a regular basis in order for you to have the most pleasant experience possible. The experts with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing® of Dallas would like to share some home DIY tips to help you with shower cleaning while helping to take care of the planet at the same time.
Use a Filtered Showerhead
The best way to keep a clean shower is to have clean water in the first place. While this isn’t exactly a home remedy, it’s a step that can make your shower not just cleaner, but healthier as well. A filtered showerhead will eliminate chlorine, sulfur and other chemicals and will also help keep scale from accumulating – not to mention save you from excessive shower cleaning.
Shower Curtain Cleaning
Nothing can take the joy out of a shower quicker than a moldy shower curtain. One home DIY solution to this issue is to put it in your washing machine with a half a cup of white vinegar and a couple of hand towels you don’t use that often. The towels will serve as scrubbing agents.
Tile and Drain Cleaning
A good home remedy to keep your shower area looking its best is by using baking soda and vinegar. Sprinkle some baking soda on your tiles and then wet it lightly to wipe off soap scum. Pour a 9-to-1 ratio of water and vinegar in a spray bottle to kill germs. All you need to do is spray it on the dirty surface and wipe clean. You can also pour some vinegar down the drain to help keep that area clean and free of clogs.
